The Concourse consists of a 400 car underground carpark, 5 million litre water storage tank, 5000m2 Library, Civic Hall with bar and catering facilities for 500 persons, 500 seat theatre, 1000 seat Concert Hall, Shops, Restaurants and extensive open space within the heart of Chatswood.
The $150m project was developed by Willoughby City Council and opened in 2011.Complex staging, Complicated shapes, Deep and raking beams, High strutting and large proportion of vertical elements meant formwork for The Concourse was always going to be a big challenge. Westform were able to provide the materials and manpower to achieve an excellent result.
Where possible, elements of the project were systemised to improve onsite productivity and reduce onsite manpower requirements. Dedicated personnel were allocated to maintain accessways and cleanup to ensure a high level of safety was maintained. Westform’s experienced team were able to implement innovative solutions to ensure that focus on the critical path was maintained.
A W Edwards Pty Limited engaged Westform to provide formwork on the Norwest Private Hospital project, which is a major health facility located at Norbrik Drive, Bella Vista. The project commenced in January, 2008 and was handed over to the client in July, 2009. The project was constructed under a fast-tracked Design & Construct contractual framework and was required to be completed within an exceptionally tight time-frame. The project involved approximatley 45,000m2 of formed surfaces; including a significant proportion of walls, blade columns, on-site detention tanks, multiple lift shafts and a number of stair shafts.
The finish to the off-form surfaces in the carpark was of a high standard and we note that Westform managed the supply and installation of all metal stair forms and associated handrail system. Westform also provided labour for the purpose of installing the Dincel Construction System in a number of areas on the project. Westform provided 80 workers on the project at the peak period and all materials required to complete the formwork in accordance with the programme were supplied by Westform. Westform addressed all requirements of the project in a highly professional and cooperative manner. Our project team was particularly pleased with Westform’s commitment to the task of meeting Occupational Health and Safety obligations by allocating an experienced team of project supervisors and Westform maintained a good working relationship will all project participants.
I was highly satisfied with the performance on the Norwest Private Hospital project and A W Edwards Pty Limited has since awarded Westform a number of other projects as a result of their demonstrated capability. We aim to continue to provide Westform with the opportunity to work with A W Edwards, as they share a desire to provide high value for money in an efficient and professional manner – whilst maintaining a high level of commitment to quality, safety, environmental and human resources management.
